Indigent Care Packages

Carter County does not provide money in the budget of the Carter County Jail to purchase commissary items for inmates who have been declared indigent. That means that without donations, inmates who have been declared indigent would have to do without personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush. AA&WC, as part of its jail ministry, provides “Indigent Packages” which contain these items for the inmates who are indigent. The packages contain a washcloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo and a gospel tract. Any person or organization wishing to help with this program can contact the Center at 543-4673.
